This editorial discusses the recently-announced Trump administration-negotiated price lowering of GLP-1 drugs produced by Eli Lilly (i.e., tirzepatide aka Mounjaro or Zepboundand) and by Novo Nordisk (i.e., semaglutide aka Ozempic or Wegovy), specifically a $245 per month Medicare price with $50 copays starting this year. While commercial insurers are largely excluded from the negotiated prices, average cash-pay prices are expected to be reduced from roughly $500 to now $350 per month. Public health studies abound looking into how much wider access and use of GLP-1 drugs may change the face of chronic disease as we know it. | Dusetzina & Sachs, N Engl J Med 2025
