A huge retrospective analysis indicates trending plasma EBV-DNA levels throughout induction chemotherapy and subsequent definitive chemoradiation for nasopharyngeal cancer is correlated with outcomes, suggesting it could one day serve as a tool for selecting optimal patients for de-escalated therapy. Across 2203 patients, those who converted to undetectable by the end of induction chemo (43%) achieved the highest rate of progression-free survival at 5 years (83%). This outpaced those who converted to undetectable only at the end of radiation (35%, PFS 76%) and, as expected, those who remained detectable even at the end of radiation (12%, PFS 53%). | Huang, It J Radiat Oncol Bio Phys 2025
