MRI can be utilized for delineating laryngeal tumors. This study compared MRI-based target volume contours with 3D digital reconstructions of laryngectomy specimens to determine how well MRI performed in delineating gross tumor volume. Standard MRI sequences (T1 and T2) significantly overestimated gross tumor volume (mean 18.5cc v 11.1cc).
