Top Line: What is the response to reduced-dose radiation for gastric lymphoma?
The Study: 24 to 30 Gy is considered the standard dose range for gastric MALT lymphoma. However, much of the control data for gastric MALT comes from studies using 30+ Gy. In this prospective observational study, 62 patients with stage IE gastric MALT lymphoma that was H. pylori negative (48.4%) or who had residual disease after H. pylori treatment (51.6%) received definitive RT to the whole stomach. The prescription doses were 25.5 Gy in 17 fractions (75.8%), 25.2 Gy in 14 fractions (19.4%), or 24 Gy in 16 fractions (4.8%). At 6 months, 96.7% of patients had a complete response. Local failure free survival was 92% at 5 years, and PFS was 90.4%. The rate of grade 2 toxicity was 27.4%, and not patients experienced grade 3 toxicity.
TBL: In this prospective study, lower dose RT in the range of 24-25 Gy resulted in favorable control and low toxicity. | Jeon, Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2024
