A retrospective look at a large database reports nearly a quarter of patients undergoing surgery for head and neck cancer have perioperative malnutrition, higher among Black patients (OR 1.31) and those on Medicaid (OR1.68) or Medicare (OR 1.24). Malnutrition in turn as associated with increased hospital stay and costs, increased post-op complications, and lower rates of discharge to home. | Reed, JAMA Otolaryngol Head Neck Surg 2023
