Does exercise reduce the risk of falls in breast cancer survivors? In the GET FIT trial, 462 post-menopausal breast cancer survivors were randomized to one of three exercise regimens: a control arm with stretching, strength training, or tai ji quan. Tai ji who? Tai ji quan is a tai chi-like balance training regimen designed to improve balance and reduce falls in older adults. The strength regimen significantly improved leg strength while the balance regimen significantly improved balance. However, during 6 months of training and a subsequent 6 month follow up period, there was no difference in the incidence of falls among the three groups. | Winters-Stone, J Clin Oncol 2023
