This dosimetric analysis of radiation for 60 ultracentral lung tumors with target volumes overlapping or abutting the primary bronchial tree, trachea or esophagus used auto-segmentation of the heart and 17 cardiac sub-structures again demonstrates dose to the base of the heart appears to uniquely contribute to non-cancer death. Note: the base of the heart is actually at the top as it is akin to an upside down triangle.
