The head and neck is an uncommon site for soft tissue sarcoma. This retrospective study took a look at 192 patients treated for localized H&N STS over a >50 year period. Tumors most commonly involved the neck (26%) or paranasal sinuses (19%). The majority of patients had surgery and post-op RT (70%, median dose 60 Gy) as opposed to pre-op RT (median dose 50 Gy) followed by surgery. The rate of local control was similar with pre-op (78%) versus post-op RT (75%), but these were still not what we expect to see with extremity STS. As with extremity sarcoma, the rate of major wound complication was significantly lower with post-op RT (7.5% v 22.4%). | Yoder, Pract Radiat Oncol 2024
