The LUCNAS trial demonstrated strikingly higher sensitivity with contrasted CT (55%) or ultrasound (64%) staging compared with clinical palpation alone (8%) for high-risk cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma–the exception being immunosuppressed patients, roughly 10% of whom developed rapid nodal recurrence despite initial negative imaging. | Ferrándiz-Pulido, JAMA Dermatol 2026
