A randomized trial reported non-inferior local control with simple hysterectomy (sparing parametria and upper vagina and thus urinary toxicity) versus the historic standard of radical hysterectomy for early-stage IA2-IB1 cervical cancer, but there weren’t enough events to power a survival analysis. This NCDB analysis supports similar long term survival for stage IA2-IB1 cervical cancer with stromal invasion <1 cm regardless of surgical extent. | Tarney, JAMA Netw Open 2025
