It’s 2023 and MRI-linear accelerators are all the rage. Here is a great summary of where we currently stand with this new technology. After all, the theoretical advantages are myriad. First, CT images just can’t compete when it comes to soft tissue visualization. Couple that with cine imaging, continuous imaging of the anatomy of interest during treatment that is not even possible with CT’s ionizing radiation, and you’ve got a game changer. This opens the door to all sorts of possibilities such as automated respiratory gating or multileaf collimator tumor tracker, perhaps even obviating the need for fiducials. | Chuong, Surg Oncol Clin N Amer 2023
