Reirradiation is a challenging endeavor. While data is limited, there are good resources describing acceptable cumulative doses for organs at risk in various disease sites. One of the most time consuming aspects of planning a reirradiation case is the conversion and calculation of cumulative dose to OARs. This usually involves complicated spreadsheets or good old fashioned paper, pencil, and an EQD2 calculator. Well, here’s an even more helpful resource: the web-based ReRTCalc. This tool allows you to enter the original dose-fractionation and the dose received by various OARs during the initial course of treatment. You can then enter the intended number of reirradiation fractions to see safe and borderline dose limits for said OARs with all the complicated EQD2 conversion done for you. When complete, there’s a nice downloadable or printable table of individualized OAR constraints ready for treatment planning. | Culbert, cancerretreatment.org
