A longitudinal observational study spanning two decades and 43 urology practices across the US indicates men who eat primarily plant-based foods have a lower risk of progression after treatment of a localized prostate cancer. The hypothesis behind the mechanism largely mirrors all the reasons a plant-based diet is healthy overall: think more antioxidants, less inflammation, and steadier glucose control. Sure, this is no silver bullet prevention plan, but it may be nice to discuss with highly-motivated men in follow-up looking to make proactive lifestyle changes. | Liu, JAMA Netw Open 2024
