A meta-analysis of non-operative definitive local treatments for localized renal cell carcinoma is here to say: there’s a lotta good options out there. Top of the list, of course, is SBRT with local control at one and five years clocking in at 99% and 95%. Rates weren’t too shabby with other “ablative” (should we go there?) therapies, either: radiofrequency ablation at 96% and 92%, microwave ablation at 97% and 86%, and cryoablation at 95% and 90%. All procedures carried risk of grade 3-4 toxicity in the 1-3% range. Is anyone up for a prospective head-to-head comparison in patient satisfaction and convenience..? | Huang, Lancet Oncol 2025
