Today we bring you more evidence that, despite very little downside, lung cancer screening is simply not taking off. A cross-sectional study of nearly 26K patients eligible for lung cancer screening across the US reveals only 18% were screened in 2022. Sadly, states with the highest lung cancer incidence had the lowest rates of screening, a trend most prevalent in southern states where only 2 of 17 states screened at rates above the national mean. On the flip side, screening rates were highest among states with Medicaid expansion and higher capacity (more screening facilities per eligible patient). | Bandi, JAMA Intern Med 2024
