Last year, the V-REX trial found that upfront SRS for vestibular schwannoma resulted in better tumor volume control compared to surveillance. However, there was no difference in hearing deterioration at 4 years. Here’s a retrospective study comparing patients with Koos I and II VS who were either observed or treated with SRS. As expected, SRS had superior tumor control at 5 and 10 years. Rates of serviceable hearing preservation were similar between groups at 5 years (60.4% v 51.4%) and 9 years (27% v 30%). SRS resulted in less tinnitus, cranial nerve dysfunction, and vestibular dysfunction. | Bin-Alamer, Int J Radiat Oncol Biol Phys 2024
