Anyone..? While lung cancer screening remains slow on the uptake in certain circles, there’s really no excuse for folks who are already plugged in for other cancer screenings. This retrospective study asked how many women with smoking histories seen at Stanford for mammogram screening were also eligible for low-dose CT lung screening. Of 874 smokers, 99 (11%) were eligible for lung cancer screening yet only 35 (4%) received it. This means, even among women with adequate resources and access to breast cancer screening, only a third are undergoing appropriate and potentially life-saving lung cancer screening.
